RiceGuard Sentinel came out of a simple observation: Thai rice farming runs on decisions made from the edge of the field, using what can be seen from there, and almost none of it is written down.

The work is done in Thailand, for Thai paddies, by a team that goes to the field when a pole stops reporting.

Soil, water, weather, crop and device-health information can be followed through time instead of reconstructed after a problem has already occurred.

What this means

RiceGuard preserves the field record so later decisions can be based on what happened across the season—not only on what was visible during one visit.

Research foundation

Documented the way engineering is documented, not the way a pitch is.

The system is written down as 54 numbered requirements traced through design, code and test; a data model of 69 tables; and a test-evidence register per subsystem with a technology-readiness level attached.

Deployment status is recorded per subsystem—live, staging or proof of concept—rather than described in general terms.

That record is what an assessor read in July 2026. It tells the team which parts are proven and which are still being validated—the same distinction this website keeps.
